There is a new flag system in use at The Captains Golf Course.  The color of the flag represents the relative hole position on the green.  Red flags are for front hole locations. White flags are for middle hole locations.  Yellow flags are for back hole locations.

This isn’t an exact science because a hole can be close to the dividing line if you simply divided the green into thirds.  Instead, think of “red” being in the front 40% of the green, “white” in the middle 40%, and “yellow” being in the back 40%. I know, I know, that adds up to 120%.  But, you can’t really expect the maintenance staff to go out there with a laser measuring device just to cut the pins.

There will be 6 front, 6 middle, and 6 back hole locations each day on each course.

On Wednesday, April 6, 2011, the CCMGA will officially begin its season. You can sign up for this event in one of two ways.

1. There is a sign up sheet on a clipboard on the club’s bulletin board. This is located in the hallway with the restrooms, next to the handicap computer. Just write your name and member number on the form and you are all set.
2. Or, sign up online at http://www.CCMGA.com by clicking the “Sign up for Wednesday Play” button at the top of the page.

You must sign up EACH week that you wish to play. You can sign up beginning on Sunday, and ending at 4:00 p.m. on the Friday before play.

You don’t have to be a member of the CCMGA (yet) to play, but we encourage you to join as soon as possible. However, you must be a member of The Captains Golf Course prior to playing. Memberships forms are available in the Pro Shop.

The Port Course at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts is open for play.  The regular greens are open (except for a temporary green at #8).  Riding carts are also available throughout the winter months when conditions permit.

The 18-hole green fee is $40.  Twilight greens fees are $25 and begin at 1:00 p.m.
Riding carts are $18.

As always, no greens fees for members and riding carts are only $15.  The membership year ends on March 31st.

Thanks for a great season! Wednesday, October 27, 2010 marked the final event of the 2010 season.

The CCMGA Wednesday Play will resume on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. You can sign up for this first event starting on Sunday, March 27, 2011.

Congratulations! The Captains wins the Commissioner’s Cup!

The final score was Captains 30 1/2 to Cranberry Valley’s 29 1/2.

The CCMGA held its annual meeting on Wednesday, October 13, 2010.  The following slate of officers and board members were elected unanimously.

Congratulations to John Webb for winning the CCMGA’s Memorial Trophy for 2010!

John shot a 91 (net 68) to capture the victory.  He played admirably and is certainly deserving of this prestigious title.

The 2010 winners of the four individual flights are:

A-Flight: Rob Harris
B-Flight: Dick Martinez
C-Flight: John Webb
D-Flight: Irving Tarlow

These final four players competed in one 18-hole stroke play (net handicap) tournament on September 29, 2010  to determine the winner of the Memorial Trophy.

Date: Wednesday October 13, 2010
Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Entry fee: $20 per man (cash only) payable on the 13th. This includes carts, cash prize awards to the first three teams, and cookout at the VFW immediately afterwards. This event is open to all current CCMGA members.

Format: Two-man teams with the better ball of team counting. 90% handicap with gold tees allowed as in regular Wednesday matches. Strokes allowed on holes will be indicated on preprinted score cards that will be provided.

How To Sign Up
Sign up sheets will be posted on Sunday, October 3rd and removed Friday, October 8th or when field is full. The maximum number of players is 64.
